Back behind the lens

A few years ago I had the pleasure of working with Steve Back on a large architecture based project that had us running around the roof tops of some of Sydney’s tallest buildings. He’s obviously been extremely busy since then and has produced an amazing portfolio of work.- Posted on the 08.08.2009, Permanent Link

A small ‘thank you’

‘The Refined’ simply would not exist without your help and support, so I thought this was the most fitting place to say thank you.- Posted on the 08.08.2009, Permanent Link

Happy in Huggies
Huggies is a brand that continues to impress me, through their clever use of advertising and also the amount of resources they offer to new mothers via their website. But the thing that is really notable about this brand for me, is their continual ability to engage people emotionally. Even their new range of nappies with a denim design to support jeans for genes day, brought a smile to my face. I don’t usually profile large commercial brands, but I think Huggies are doing things really cleverly at the moment, and there are plenty of lessons to be learnt from their marketing.

Advertising that (literally) saves the day

I REALLY like this one. A mobile provider in India mounted a real inflatable dinghy on a billboard in Mumbai (which is known for monsoonal floods) with the line “In case of emergency, cut rope.” Sure enough a few weeks after the billboard was erected the floods came, and the rope was cut, and the boat was actually used to ferry people to safety.- Posted on the 05.08.2009, Permanent Link

Uniqlo blowing me away again

They just keep on delivering! I honestly think that Uniqlo have to be one of the most innovative brands of today. No doubt a true reflection of their Japanese origins. You HAVE TO check this one out.- Posted on the 05.08.2009, Permanent Link

Avoiding the pricks
This is just a very simple t-shirt design I came across. I just like the way it tells a story with so much simplicity. For those simple folk (like me) that don’t get it straight away – the balloon keeps on falling for real pricks!
